This missing you,
it comes and goes in waves.
So long life goes uninterrupted,
and then a moment,
a glimmer, a peek,
and you flood my chest;
I cannot breathe, I cannot see,
you overcrowd me.
Whatever was close
is beyond the barrier of
warmth beneath my skin.
Was it ever within touch?
I don’t remember;
days are lost in your passing
until a sliver of sanity
sinks into the flesh of a finger,
and I know, to save myself,
I must forget.
