Laughter Is

the ray of sunlight:
my savior,
my renewal, my peace.

It brings hope back
to my heart's door
as on old hinges it swings.

Those sweet smiles of delight
ward away Danger and
Mischief (the Devil's great snares);

they keep me walking manicured
trails–paths that swoop
'round their bends and
lift my heart as it pleads

that someone meet me
from this new scenery,
that someone might
save me eternally.

But no, I see no one,
just sleeping trees.
I must laugh.
